Guest Speakers: Oliver Waddington-Ball and Marie Cudennec

This evening we heard from Oliver and Marie, who run a social enterprise company in West London focused on reusing materials ("up-cycling") to build amazing furniture and decorative pieces alongside a community empowerment and training program. Oliver told us about his experience and path that led him to create the concept of Goldfinger Factory, emphasizing the importance of sustainability and community involvement. Their success, with ongoing support from the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, has led them to many partnerships with prominent companies such as John Lewis and Gail's Artisan Bakery. Their site includes a showroom, a workshop, and a cafe, where community-focused events are held.

Guest Speaker: Dick Nathan, Past District Governor

RCK joined together with 42 other London Rotary Clubs, and Rotary Clubs in Florida and the Ukraine to raise funds for a minibus for the Revival Medical Centre in Cherniyev, Ukraine. 

This area was blighted by fall-out from the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, and children are still being born today with deformities due to the disaster.  The Medical Centre provides much needed care to those affected, and the centre needed a new minibus to ferry the children between their homes and the centre. 
That is where Rotary stepped in, and, through international collaboration, bought the new minibus.

Rotarians from London, headed by Immediate Past District Governor Dick Nathan, drove the minibus, and other aid, all the way from London to Cherniyev – a journey of 4 days.
